1950s Black Velvet Yellow Green and Blue Ombre Sequin Swirl Can Can Tassel Fringe Circus Showgirl Burlesque Costume Dress by Brooks-Van Horn Costumes

This amazing costume is made by none other than the amazingly talented Brooks-Van Horn Costumes of New York. Brooks-Van Horn Costumes were well known for having costumed Broadway performances in the 50s-60s and the Ringling Bros Circus up into the 1980s when the company was sold. This piece dates to the 1950s and was worn by performer Leslie McGriff. I couldn't locate any information of the performer but believe this to be either a stage worn costume or a circus costume.

This costume is extremely big and heavy and can only be shipped within the United States. Shipping is included on this piece within the United States. The dress form it is photographed on is a size 2 and fits it perfectly.

*Yellow fades into green fades into blue swirl sequin print
*Red hem on dress
*Red sequin darts on hem of skirt
*Black fringe tassels on scallops of dress
*Large, oversized puffy sleeves
*Red trim on collar

*Interior is lined in pink and red tiers of tulle making a can can appearance
*Metal zip up front
*Metal snaps on bottom of skirted portion in front
*Has original Brooks-Van Horn label as made for performer Leslie McGriff

Condition: Excellent. In excellent vintage condition with standard wear you would see on a costume piece and in excellent condition for its age. There is one fringe tassel that is missing on the front of the costume and some faint wear along the hem of the dress where it has rubbed on the floor during wear and a small split here and there along the hem where the lining has rubbed bare. There are a few larger sequins missing on the front of the bodice and you can see where they were originally stitched on. There are a few sequins missing here or there. I would give this piece a 9/10 for its age and being a costume piece.
